What makes Boatsetter different from other boat rental platforms?
Owner satisfaction is our number one priority! That means we are here to provide you with anything you might need for your rentals, including a top-notch support team, an easy to use platform, an owner’s app, and comprehensive insurance and towing.
I don’t know if I’m comfortable having someone else drive my boat, how can Boatsetter help?
Boatsetter has the largest network of USCG certified captains out there! Choosing to rent out your boat with a captain gives you peace of mind in knowing that an experienced professional will be in charge during the trip!
How does the insurance work? Do I have to have my own?
Under USCG rules, you are required to have some kind of commercial charter policy covering your boat during rentals. You can either choose to provide your own, or use the peer to peer program we provide through GEICO and BoatUS. Please note you must have a personal recreational policy in order to be approved for our program.
Does Boatsetter screen renters?
Yes! We verify all of our renters through a service called Cognito, designed to make sure payment information matches a renter’s identity. For your safety and that of your boats, we also have an age policy in place determining that a renter must be at least 18 years old to rent out a captained charter, and at least 25 years old to rent out a bareboat charter.
Is listing free?
Yes! We work hard to help you succeed, which means we don’t have any kind of listing fee. We take a commission off of completed rentals, meaning we only make money when you do!
How does payment work?
We handle all payments associated with the rental. Prior to the trip, we collect the total value of the trip from the renter, in addition to holding a $500 security deposit on your behalf. Once the trip is completed, we pay you, our owner, within 48 hours of completion.
